Food Truck Spotlight On Pig Pen BBQ
Food Truck Spotlight: Pig Pen BBQ
If you live in Texas, you know that we have some of the best BBQ in the world. Not only that, but we have a LOT of it! I feel like I could try a new BBQ spot every day and never hit 'em all in a lifetime. But, sometimes you stumble upon a BBQ joint that has that something extra special and you later find yourself comparing all other BBQ to that one place...that place is a little food truck in Dripping Springs called Pig Pen BBQ.
The first time we visited was a Saturday, and lucky for us Saturdays mean Texas pork chops! The chop certainly was Texas-sized and so tender. Their potato salad is different from any I’ve ever had, and is now my favorite.
According to their Facebook page, they have won awards for their chicken (must try the chicken ranch sandwich!), charro beans (also amazing), brisket (can you say, “beautiful smoke ring”?), and pork ribs (I’ve yet to try them). Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong and you’ll more than likely be back for more…
In addition to incredible BBQ, Pig Pen is family owned and operated by some folks that are as friendly as they come. It’s also great to know that this local business gives back to the community and supports Austin Police Association and the Austin Police Department.
I’ll leave you with a few tips for your visit…
Show up early, before they run out of all the good stuff.
Keep them in mind for your catering needs.
If you love bacon, you MUST try a piggy tail!
