Austin Area Market Stats
The Austin real estate market continues to thrive as 2016 saw some record numbers.
Last year, the greater Austin area experienced record home sales with consumers buying over 29,500 single-family homes, a 3.9% increase from 2015. The average home sold for $284,000 and for the first time ever, the Austin area dollar volume topped 10 Billion.
City of Austin – 2016 sales were up 1.7% from 2015. The median price was $340,000, up 5.8%
Travis County – the median home price jumped by 6.5% to $330,000
Williamson County – they saw a 2.5% hike in sales with a median home price of $260,000, up 6.2% from 2015
Hays County – sales were up by 7.3% with a median home price of $243,000, up 5.2% from 2015
Outlook for 2017 – All indications point to 2017 being another strong year but not maybe as record setting as 2016. For several years, job growth has been a major factor for the strong real estate market. Currenlty, the area job growth rate is over 2% with many buyers still moving into the Tri-County area.
